Hi Brent,
Great Podcast.
I’m a member of the Hunter MTB Association with home trails (Awaba MTB Park) located next to the Watagans National Park in NSW, Australia. We’re on-board with aMTB and in contact with Andrew Liddawi. Recently we built an aMTB XC trail and rated it with the Break the Boundary system. We also included aMTB in the last MTBA Downhill National Series race by making some minor modifications to existing trails. It was a fun project and great to see aMTB included as a category by the club and the National association. More clubs are coming on board here in NSW and the options for riding are expanding. We’re not done yet – we have a grant application pending with the NSW Government and if successful we’ll be building a challenging aMTB downhill course for Adaptive riders and extending the XC trail. We’re also on the way to purchasing some Adaptive bikes so we can attract riders who don’t have the funds to purchase their own.
These trails are also great for the two wheelers for training, warm ups, beginners and kids. Your guests today were awesome and their on-going advocacy opens up the sport of mountain biking to not only adaptive riders but to a greater proportion of the community.
